Exhaust Systems

The exhaust specialists at Sonny's Performance can custom build an exhaust system for any kind of vehicle. We service all foreign and domestic makes and models of cars, trucks and RVs, hot rods, classic cars, farm equipment, and off‑road vehicles.

Our custom bent dual exhaust and cat-back systems can be built for maximum performance, economy, or back-to-factory specs. We allow our customers to decide the diameter of the pipe, muffler type, tailpipe location, tip, and sound of their exhaust. We will take the time to ensure each customer gets exactly the results they are looking for.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet stock replacement muffler or a muffler to set off every car alarm you pass, you've come to the right place. We have one of the largest inventories of mufflers, resonators, and tips in North County. Our most popular performance mufflers are chambered mufflers, straight-through mufflers, and turbo mufflers.

In most cases, chambered mufflers are going to be the most aggressive-sounding mufflers, followed closely behind by straight-through mufflers. Turbo mufflers are the quietest of the three while retaining decent flow characteristics.

You can get performance flow without being too loud! Ask about our quiet performance systems and performance resonators. We also carry stock replacement mufflers which are by far the quietest muffler when compared to performance mufflers if that is what you are after. We have replacement mufflers in stock for almost every vehicle!

Performance mufflers come in a variety of designs and sound differently depending on the engine, make, and model. What sounds great on your friend's car may not sound the same on your vehicle. This is where our experience can come in handy, making sure you get exactly what you are looking for in your new exhaust system.

Headers and Manifolds

Does your car sound loud when you first start it in the morning and as you drive, it starts to quiet down? This is the number one sign of a cracked manifold. Manifolds crack because of too much heat and exhaust trying to flow through too small crevices.

The manifold will sound loud when you first start the vehicle because the crack is very large, but as the manifold heats up, it will expand and close the gap and most of the sound will go away. If you are experiencing this, it is important to get your manifold repaired. Otherwise, it could lead to even more expensive issues, such as ruining the catalytic converters and causing the engine sensors to read incorrect data.

Our Solutions

In most cases, we are able to remove the manifold from the vehicle, resurface and weld the crack, replace the gasket, and install the manifold back on the vehicle. This saves quite a bit of money compared to purchasing a new manifold. If the manifold is badly cracked, simply welding it may cause it to break again. Instead, the manifold needs to be replaced.

Some of our customers use this opportunity to upgrade to a set of headers. Unlike manifolds, headers do not usually crack, and they also increase the performance of your vehicle while improving its gas mileage. They do this by extracting the exhaust from your engine in a smoother and less restrictive way, thus reducing heat buildup and effort from your engine.
